Rihanna's venture into the hair business became official with the launch of Fenty Hair, a “flexible line of products” designed for all hair types, which dropped on June 13. She shared the exciting news with her fans on Instagram on June 4, where she sported a blond pixie cut and wrote, “You know how much switching my hair up matters to me. I’ve had almost every texture, color, length, from weaves to braids to natural.”

Fenty Hair offers a range of nine hair care and styling products tailored for all hair types, textures, and routines. This new lineup includes a shampoo, two conditioners, a treatment, four stylers, and an edge styling tool, all formulated to be vegan, sulfate-free, and silicone-free. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with standout products like The Rich One Moisture Repair Shampoo, The Rich One Moisture Repair Conditioner, and The Comeback Kid Instant Damage Repair Treatment quickly becoming favorites among users.

Her Postpartum Hair Loss Struggle

At the launch party for Fenty Hair, Rihanna candidly discussed her experience with postpartum hair loss. The Grammy-winning singer and beauty mogul opened up about the unexpected challenges she faced after the births of her sons, two-year-old RZA and ten-month-old Riot, during an interview with Refinery29 at the Los Angeles event.

“I didn’t expect it to happen in waves. I thought it would just happen and grow back,” Rihanna shared, reflecting on her journey with postpartum hair loss, per People.

The star revealed she began losing hair in patches after giving birth, a side effect she hadn’t anticipated. "I had not realized that this was even 'on the pamphlet.' At that point, you're just like: All right, enough is enough,” she added, highlighting her frustration and determination to address the issue head-on.

This unexpected hair loss marked the beginning of a new chapter for Rihanna, inspiring her to experiment with "more creative and clever" hairstyles. Over the past few months, she has showcased a variety of looks, including bubblegum-pink curls, honey-blonde layers, and intricate braided updos. One of her most significant recent statements was embracing her natural curls, which she flaunted in New York City just days before the Fenty Hair launch. Her natural look was complemented by a John Galliano mink fur coat and a vintage Louis Vuitton × Sprouse Alma bag.

Rihanna's Motivation for Fenty Hair

At the Fenty Hair event, Rihanna explained her motivation behind launching the hair care line. “Evolving as a woman and even as an artist, hair has been such a huge part of that and a reflection of whatever I’m feeling,” she said. “So, it changes a lot and my hair goes through a lot. Making this brand, I had to consider all of those things. I want to look fly, but I want my hair to be healthy. How do I do that? All of my products need to strengthen and repair while I’m out just being fabulous.”

She broke into the music scene in 2005 after signing with rapper Jay-Z’s record label Def Jam, achieving massive success with her 2007 hit “Umbrella” from the album Good Girl Gone Bad. Beyond music, the multi-award-winning pop star has made a significant impact in fashion, beauty, and philanthropy.

Rihanna’s accomplishments as a singer and businesswoman make her unstoppable and serve as an inspiration for Caribbean youth. Her influence extends far beyond the entertainment industry, proving that with passion and perseverance, one can truly conquer any field.
